Workshops & Schedule

Dear Friends,
In addition to the classes and workshops listed on the home page , I am now scheduling private sessions, workshops and retreats with families, communities, organizations and businesses. I also am excited to share NVC-based mediation with you- a method of conflict resolution and connection where everyone's needs are met and where skills applicable to daily life are learned.  I also am excited to offer NVC-based coaching to you, sessions where deep healing and transformation of core hurts and beliefs are possible and where you will learn and practice concrete skills for your day to day relationships and encounters.  We call this "street giraffe"- learning to express yourself and hear others naturally, without judgment, blame, criticism, anger, shame or depression.

I also am making a commitment to bing the skills and consciousness of Nonviolent Communication to communities and populations who are suffering from violence, hopelessness and lack of support. Please send me your requests, dreams, ideas and support about this. Please let me know if you would like to register, and please help me publicize the events by letting your friends, family and colleagues know.  I look forward to creating the quality of connection between us that makes giving and receiving joyfully possible.

Roberta's message about the Self Empathy Series beginning end of August and September 2008:

Dear Friends,

You may have noticed a shift in my NVC offerings- I am not offering independent classes these days; I find that my needs for community, creativity, connection and effectiveness are being more satisfied with a series of 4-8 classes or trainings, or all day workshops.  In the class series, each person has a different buddy every week for a home practice, creating connection, deeper learning and community. This supports participants having deep breakthroughs in understanding old patterns of communication that have not served them, in developing self acceptance and connection, in feeling hopeful that NVC can become their natural consciousness.

I am very excited about the next series I will offer- Five weeks of Self Empathy. Self Empathy is what we call in NVC the process by which we stay present and grounded in, or reconnect to, the energy we choose to come from, instead of from the habitually triggered places. There are on the spot self empathy processes (emergency first aid) to use when we are in the thick of a difficult communication and need to self connect. There also are self empathy processes where we work with thoughts and old beliefs about ourself or others  that trigger hurts and wounds, that make it so painful for us to be in relation to ourselves or others, that we withdraw or get angry. We learn tools to bring our awareness to the thoughts, to uncover their core needs, and then to free ourselves from core beliefs that have been blocking us from the self acceptance and connection we want. We will use meditation,  journaling, role plays, dyads and presentations to learn and deepen these self empathy practices.
